Linc Cymru is a Welsh housing association dedicated to providing quality homes for people over 50 with specific care needs. They manage over 5,000 properties across Wales, and focus on ensuring residents’ comfort and wellbeing.
The challenge: low-carbon heating on a budget
When Linc Cymru’s Maesyffynon extra care scheme in Aberdare encountered heating issues, the housing association decided to install Ambion’s low-carbon infrared heating panels in the all-electric building.
The choice of this heating solution was dictated by the need to minimise the building’s carbon footprint, while ensuring residents could benefit from warm, dry homes – and from a heating system that was easy to set up and affordable to run.
The results: happy residents, decarbonised flats
Ambion’s panels soon proved to be an excellent choice, with the residents reporting how happy they are with the warmth provided and the user-friendly temperature controls. The panels also offer significant cost savings, with average monthly expenses falling below £10 in trial flats: “cheap as chips,” as one of the residents put it.
Beyond their energy performance, the panels boast a sleek, modern design that enhances the residents’ living spaces. Linc Cymru was equally impressed with the Ambion team’s know-how, responsiveness, and supportive approach.
The positive feedback from the Maesyffynon scheme throws a spotlight on the suitability of Ambion’s low-carbon infrared system in social housing and multi-occupancy buildings where affordability, sustainability and ease of use are top priorities. We’re excited by the contribution our products are making to decarbonising the social and care housing sector, and hope to extend our collaboration with Linc Cymru further into the future.
